When there’s a gem con doing the rounds, we’re usually the first to know. We find out when you send us gems for certification – and they turn out not to be what they seem. Even seasoned jewellers can be duped by the remarkably authentic-looking imitations, synthetics, and treated gems that do the rounds.
As soon as we become aware of a con, we send out a gem alert, so that our clients are alert to the latest scams, and can avoid them.
This gem alert is an urgent one. The latest con artist is an outright crook! He has already tried to pass a synthetic diamond off as natural in both Durban and Cape Town. He also has coloured stones and even glass in his arsenal, all ready to be sold to an unsuspecting buyer.
Please take care. Don’t purchase any diamond or coloured stone without having it checked and certified first.
If you have any doubts, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout on 021 761 1746. We’ll help set your mind at ease – and save you a good deal of money (and potential embarrassment) in the process.
